MTI (Ministers Training Institute) was founded in 1978 by Bro. Jim Clark with the vision of sending laborers into America and the world to plant churches. Bro. Clark worked arduously to take three years of Bible School curriculum and condense it down to 48 practical courses. His goal was to develop a curriculum that would equip someone to be dropped anywhere in the world with the capability of starting a New Testament Church with a minimum of difficulty.

After graduating from MTI in 1991, Donnie & Sue Shaffer moved to Brazil and started MTI School of Ministry. Hundreds of Brazilians have been trained to fulfill their fivefold ministry callings. Donnie also developed a cell leaders training track for their local church where they experienced phenomenal growth from 500 to over 10,000 members in a span of eight years, training and equipping cell leaders. These local church based training schools were multiplied across the Amazon Basin. Hundreds of churches have been planted, with the focus of training and equipping church planters.

Donnie & Sue moved back to the states in the fall of 2002 and established MTI School of Ministry here in the US in the fall of 2003.

MTI School of Ministry is continuing on with the tradition of training and equipping church planters and leaders. Matt 9:38, “"Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers...”
